Happy Friday everyone! I have some more wonderful blog candy. I had so much giving away 3 prizes that I think I will do it one more time. It will work the same as last time. The prizes are listed in order and the first 3 numbers random.org picks will win these prizes in order. For example prize one is Karen Foster Snap stamps in mini formal! If you are the first number picked you will win this wonderful prize. They are so cool and you can't find them anywhere. I just happen to have two of them!
The second prize is a wonderful CTMH stamp set called Summertime. It was the June stamp of the month so it's no longer available. Great for cardmaking and scrapbooking that summer event.
Last but not least is the current issue of Just Cards. A fabulous magazine that I bought twice! It's a 10 dollar magazine so I figure someone might enjoy it but wouldn't want to shell out big bucks for it.

I would love if anyone had any ideas on what to do craft wise with baby food jars - I'm starting to collect a ton of them! I'm going to decorate some as thank you gifts for guests to my son's birthday party next month but other than that?
Now onto a card. I actually have quite a few cards made but none of them are colored in. They're made and stamped, I made a lot doing it this way and then will color all of the images at once so hopefully I'll be posting some cool stuff. I'm participating in a lot of challenges this week! But here's one using this Christmas slab of paper, Fluffles stamp by Stampendous and CTMH organdy ribbon.

Great candy! Love your fluffles card too. I know of someone who actually makes Christmas Trees out of the baby food jars. You glue them together in the shape of a Christmas tree and add some lights to it. I will see if I can get some pics of them or the template and send it to you! :0)
ReplyDeleteOooh...pick me! I saw one fantastic storage idea for baby food jars. You take a piece of plywood or 2 x 4 or some other mounting surface (like a piece that is 4" x 24" x 1" give or take) and you screw the lids onto that, evenly spaced and you mount that piece of wood somewhere with easy access. Then you can fill your jars and screw them up onto the storage area and "viola" easy access, clear storage for buttons, ribbon, paperclips, you name it!

ReplyDeleteOnce again, wonderful blog candy! I don't have a creative idea for the baby jars, I just recycled the ones from my son. I like the idea of using them as a storage unit! Let us know what you end up doing!

ReplyDeleteI have seen them decorated using a baby theme and then items such as baby pins, barrettes, lotion, etc. were stored in them as a baby shower idea. If I find the link, I will send it to ya!
If I had some baby food jars I think I would oragnize my primas and embellishments by color. And use it as decor for my craft room. I would LOVE to have those Snap Stamps. All I could find was the small casual a while back and I ordered 2 and gave one away....just like you. :-) But, I'd love to have the formal. Hope I win!!!
ReplyDeleteYou can fill the jars with colourful spices and decorate the lid:) If you can find some unsual spices its a great christmas gift to give someone as a set. You can tie a ribbon that matches the spices for extra decoration:)
ReplyDeleteOf course the options are endless. You can fill them with candy. Or use them to storage crafting supplies. You can use them as a vase for small small flowers. My mum used to use small jars as vases for some of the small flowers that grow in the summer and that we would bring home for her.
I try to alter all sorts of storage spaces and use them to hold pens and other colors, to store buttons, beads and other embellishments...

My grand-daughter saves them for me - I use them for buttons, beads, all sorts of embellishments, etc. You can decorate the outside of them with the alcohol inks.

ReplyDeleteThere are lots of ideas for baby food jars, but my favorite is candle holder. To be more creative you can paint the jar, and while it is wet roll it in salt, the salt will scatter the light of the candle inside the jar.
Great blog candy! I'd love to see that magazine. I'm an magazine junkie. lol I saved a ton of baby food jars, too. So far, the only thing I have done with them is alter them and put some supplies in them to give to my niece for her birthday since she likes scrapbooking.

Some of my ideas that Alter them and add candles, embellishments...like buttons, eyelets, brads, ribbons etc. I've made some into snow globes with kids one year and they really like them. Also you can decorate them and put little presents in like jewelry. You might check to see if any daycare might be able to use some for projects there. Thanks for a chnce a your generous giveaway.
ReplyDeletei clean out all the jars and when i want to have a romantic dinner with my husband, i put tea light candles in them...you can put them everywhere, and you don't have to worry about the wax spilling out or anything!

ReplyDeleteI'm thinking they would be perfect for storing embellishments or altering and putting candy or little teacher gifts (if you or friends needed any). If you are a demo they would be fun to alter and fill with ribbon, buttons, eyelets and brads type of things to give away as door prizes or as a hostess gift.

ReplyDeleteWhat I do with baby food jars is a decorate the outside of them, then if someone sends me a card, or a little prize, I send them a decorated baby food jar with a few little gifts inside. Brads, eyelets, flowers!! Hope I helped. :)

Here's one use for baby food jars:
use them to store paint for kids. You know...that powdered stuff that you have to mix. Those little jars could store the left-overs.

Baby food jars are great for storing primas by color or holding buttons. I use them at school all the time to hold little manipulatives (counting chips) for kids. Part of the glass could be painted on and the lid decorated/stamped. Thanks for offering blog candy and sharing your Fluffles card. I love cats!
ReplyDeleteI saw a REALLY cute idea recently on someone's blog where they put a belly band around the baby food jar and large flowers on the lid.
ReplyDeleteNow if you want to use them in your craft space, I have a GREAT idea. I used mine for ribbon, but not just stuffing ribbon in the (out of site, out of mind is bad for me :( I took a screwdriver and punched 2 holes in the top. Then I fed each of the ribbons in the jar into the holes. That way I can see what ribbons I have just by opening my ribbon drawer!
I heard a great idea of putting your craft glue in a baby jar up side down so its always ready to use :)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter's Camp Fire group made snow globes by hot glue a plastic snowman to the top, then added water & glitter. You can make your own scented candles with them. I think I'd use them on a shelf with lots of pretty colored embellishments. You are sooooo sweet - thanks for offering us more blog yummies:)
ReplyDeleteThe cutest thing I saw with baby food jars was using wire and beads to make hangers and then putting a little tea light in them! Way cute!! (and pick me first!!)

ReplyDeleteI always made small sandy beaches inside jars. Sand from historical beaches with tiny peices of wood, shells etc. and labeled on top and ties with pretty earthy ribbons.

Nice candy! Thanks for sharing with us. I've seen some cute baby food jars painted orange, with jack-o-lantern faces painted or stamped on them. I assume they're filled with candy, or grouped for display.

ReplyDeleteI've seen a neat idea to make little snowglobes out of baby food jars. You glue figures and elements to the inside of the lid to make your "scene", and then fill the jar about 3/4 full with a glycerine/glitter mixture. Make sure you glue your lid on securely, turn it upside down and you have a snowglobe!

ReplyDeleteAre the baby food jars still glass or are they the little plastic ones? It seems I've seen a lot of those... Really, I guess it doesn't matter too much--I agree with the organizing your different embellishments in them BUT also I was wondering if you could somehow make them into those CUTE little Halloween (or Valentine's) treat boxes somehow? I've seen people using those little metal, round tins and putting paper on the top with ribbon around....I think they are TOO cute. I was just wondering if you could maybe do the same kind of thing with the baby food jars and stick some candies in or something--m&m's, skittles, nerds...I guess it WOULD depend on the SIZE of the baby food jar too--those itty bitty small ones might not work so well.....though with Nerds I guess they would......

ReplyDeletePLEEEEEZE pick me! I just need those snap stamps. Love your blog. Check it daily. I have made candle holders out of baby food jars. I painted a flower on the outside, then put a tea light candle inside, and voila, a cute candle.
ReplyDeleteAs everyone else has said you can use them for storing embellishments. I have seen them made into snow globes. When my kids were little and I was making jelly and jams I would repurpose for my grandmother. I have also used them for bath salts for gift giving. If you make you own spice rubs that would be another use.

ReplyDeletebaby food jars are fun to wrap patterned paper around (so that some of the jar is still showing)-like 1 3/4" or so. Then add an embellishment (I like to make my own with my cricut machine using a flower) to the "front". Fill with mini candies, teas, embellisments like ribbons, brads, eyelets etc for gifts.
ReplyDeleteFor the lids, I cut a circle of cs/patterened paper for the top and add a diecut. for the side of the lid I adhere narrow ribbon with sticky red tape.

when I had baby food jars I used them for water when I was watercoloring to clean brushes...not exactly ingeniuous...but I have read many good uses here on your blog! Great candy too!

ReplyDeleteThe baby food jars are great for storing all those little embellishments that we all have hanging around, stamp or decorate with DP and ribbon and use as candle holders, attach the lids to the bottom of a shelf or board with a screw makes great out of the way storage for little things and decorate and use as little candy jars to give as gifts. sewers alike. My husband useds larger jars in his shop. He screwed the lids to wood so that they hang down for viewing and then
unscrews the jars for the bits and pieces he is working with. This could work for embellishments too.
They don't fall off the shelf either!

I think if I had baby food jars, I would have to fill them with Primas and set them in my stamp area. They would add a great dash of color :)

ReplyDeleteCan't think of anything new to do with the jars without being repititious from the other posts. Maybe put scented oil on cotton balls and poke holes on the lids to put in stale smelling closets or drawers?
