Hello Kitty fun

Today, I am sharing the last of my Cricut cards. Its a shaped Hello Kitty card. I had no idea that my Hello Kitty cartridge made one of these. It's actually the first time that I used this cartridge and I think its one of the first ones I got. Isn't she cute? I used some stickles to make her sparkly and some scraps of SU dp. It's so much fun to make these kind of cards. This is actually the second one that I made, Lily absconded with the first one. She really liked it and she put it with all her miscellaneous treasures.

Can I get a nut?

My card today is for the Cricut Circle blog weekly challenge to create a shaped card. For the challenge, I used my go to cart Create a Critter and cut this squirrel out at 4.25. I used my Gypsy to flip one of the images and weld it together to create a shaped card. I also cut out a nut to attach to the front. When I put it all together it just seemed so brown that I used some white stitching but now it looks like he has a funny shaped beard! Oh well it's all in fun!

Smile!

Hi everyone, I have a super cute Cricut card to share with you. I created this card as part of a challenge at My Pink Stamper to use pink, brown, green and an additional color of my choosing. In this card I used SU cardstock in blushing bride, espresso, celery and wild wasabi. The designer paper is SU's Greenhouse Gala - the first time I've used it. The paper has the greens and browns and I thought the blue in the paper was a nice additional color.

I used my favorite Cricut cartridge Create a Critter. I used the shadow feature as well and you can see it peeking out from behind my green frog. I did cut the lilypad but it blends and is covered by the sentiment which is also from the same cartridge. "Smile" is cut at 1" and the frog is cut at 3.75". The cartridge has various "accessories" for your critters and I cut out the crown which had some holes but I filled up the holes with gems because a crown needs some bling!

As I have mentioned, I have just rediscovered my Cricut - I seemed to collect a lot of cartridges but rarely used it. I now have a Gypsy and traded up my baby bug for the Expression and have been watching a lot of videos and now find it addicting! Don't worry there will still be stamping here on the blog but I plan on showcasing more scrapbooking and cricut artwork too!

Elf thanks

Today is another card using my cricut and Jolly Holidays cartridge. I welded the sentiment using my Gypsy and Groovy cartridge. I cut the present out of an SEI paper scrap. I cuttlebugged with the snowflake sizzix folder and put my elf all together. Love it! So cute!

New Year's resolutions are tough. I'm sure that you all have some of the same ones as me, eat healthier, get some more exercise, be more patient with the family. I've got the craft ones, to continue to use what I have, scrapbook more, send more cards, participate in challenges, visit blogs and leave comments, not just lurk. I guess that's enough for now!

Christmas house

Can you believe that I am thinking about Christmas cards already? I was just so crunched for time this year. I was working on cards and tags and gifts right up until the last day and it was just so stressful. I have heard that some very smart crafters work on a Christmas card a month. I think that is a wonderful idea. This is a shaped card from the Woodland cartridge. I actually saw a video on this on Youtube. I used SU espresso, marina mist and sunshine yellow and white. I used my cuttlebug to emboss the espresso piece and some stickles on the "snow". The sentiment is from teeny tiny wishes, SU. I used my black Martha Stewart pen to make the doorknob. Plus I made this for a challenge on the Cricut Circle blog which I think will be nice to get back into participating in challenges. I haven't really done that very much this year.

Only a few more hours before we ring in 2011. Are you ready?

Today I am sharing another Cricut card using the Jolly Holidays cartridge. The dp is scraps from when I was making popcorn boxes. You have no idea how messy my scrap area is but using up scraps helps a teeny tiny bit. The cardstock is SU marina mist, white, black and sunny yellow. I used my cuttlebug and sizzix snowflake folder for the white base card. This is one of the cards that I am using for my kids Christmas cards.

I hope that you all are enjoying the last days of 2010. We've been playing with new toys, visiting a few places and friends while its not raining.

Ice Skater Thanks

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a fabulous holiday. We did here, lots of presents and mayhem but lots of fun today. Today's card is a cute one. I used my Cricut to start my thank you cards for the kids. The little girl was cut with my Cricut Expression and my Jolly Holidays cartridge. The colors are cherry cobbler, black, white and marina mist. The "thanks" is from the Monogram cartridge. The paper is leftover from when I was making my popcorn boxes. I used my cuttlebug and sizzix snowflake folder to emboss the card base. It came out so cute.

Don't worry, I haven't abandoned my stamps but will be making some Cricut cards now and again.

Merry Christmas 2010

Merry Christmas everyone or Happy Holidays! Either way I hope that everyone is able to spend time with their family. Today's card uses my Cricut Expression and I think it's the Woodland cartridge. I saw a card like this on a Youtube video and did some matting, the sentiment is from Paper Trey Ink. I do love stamping but I have to tell you I really love my Cricut. My husband is getting me some of the brand new cartridges for Christmas. Yeah! I am writing this early and having it post as I will be running around with my family today. I hope that some of you get a Cricut cuz it's pretty fun.

I feel ok - I don't know if I mentioned that my family tried to go to Legoland on Wednesday. We had free tickets which we got to exchange for a future date as the park was closed. It wasn't even raining. We had fairly clear skies for about 3 hours. Bummer. We went into the Aquarium which was next door for about an hour and then headed home. On the way home, a crazy lady who just got out of rehab with no insurance was jamming on the freeway, spun out of control and landed in front of us like twice and stopped and we ended up hitting her. My husband did a good job of minimizing the impact but I still had a few aches and pains and now the stress of dealing with insurance and getting the car fixed and the insurance company is paying for us to get new car seats. This on top of the crazy girl who hit our block wall going too fast in the rain the week before Thanksgiving. Our insurance company must think we are unlucky! I think that we are lucky since we have come away physically unscathed. So be grateful for those you love!

Homemade shirts

Welcome to the 25 Days of Christmas. First, wish us luck. We are attempting to go to Legoland today. We got hooked up free tickets! Let's home we have a better time. Above, is a cute little Christmas shirt I made for Lily. I used the fabric adhesive from SU and it peeled right off. I was so disappointed because it was a lot of work. The second time I used this Steam a steam 2. The die was a Christmas sizzix that I had bought on a clearance a few years ago and never used and the fabric is from the SU holiday mini. The steam a steam 2 requires you to peel off one side and stick your fabric on it. Then you cut it out with your die and in this case my Big Shot. I then peeled off the other side which is temporarily sticky so you can lay it on your shirt. I then ironed all over it on cotton setting and voila! No peeling, very secure and super cute. The baby was very excited to wear a shirt her mama made!

Rain, rain, go away

Welcome to the 25 Days of Christmas. Sorry to say that today's post is not a crafty one. My mom and I decided to use my Dad's last sign in and go to California Adventure, despite the rain. I think that I was a bit too optimistic since we went to Sea World in San Diego on Saturday and got lucky. Not so today! It began with a drizzle and then it came down in a torrent, all day, still raining, not stopping! Above is a pic before we went on the Toy Story ride, not really raining yet.

I got the kids bundled in these awkward ponchos, which blocked some of the rain but were hard to maneuver. The kids got wet anyway. Lily started crying and wouldn't stop and Tyler kept shouting at me to change his wet pants. We were all miserable so we went home.

I spent the evening wrapping presents and I am still not done! I still have like 4 people and stockings to get organized. I will finish before Friday or die trying! Hope you are all done with your shopping and can enjoy your holiday!

Handmade memories

Welcome to Day 20 of the 25 Days of Christmas. Today's projects were made by my children. Above is the ornament that Lily made in school. She was so cute and proud to put her ornament on the tree. I can't wait until I have a tree full of precious handmade ornaments.

Tyler's project was this very glittery framed picture of Santa Tyler. I just love it too. My mom still puts on her Chrismas tree, the paper stocking ornament that I made in Kindergarten. That ornament is now 32 years old! She also puts up our felt stockings handmade by my Grandmother, with our names stitched on by hand. My stocking is 37 years old! It has a couple of small moth holes but is still in great shape and it makes me happy each year to see it. Do you all have favorite memories of the holidays? Tags, tags, tags

Welcome to Day 19 of the 25 Days of Christmas. Above are pics of my kids at the park last weekend. It was almost 80 degrees. Tyler is squinting because the sun is in his eyes. A couple of days after that, the weather turned and we now have rain, rain, rain and it's cold and stormy. Very strange.

Today I am sharing homemade tags using scraps from some of my other projects. All of the supplies are from SU.

The snowman tag above uses a scrap of dp from PaperTreyInk. Now it is a lot of work to make your own tags. Believe me it's a lot easier to stick one of the premade tags on their. So I am saving these tags for the gifts that go out to friends and family, not for the gifts at home. It really makes the present looks pretty and special.

Homemade gifts

Hi everyone, Welcome to Day 18 of the 25 Days of Christmas. Today's post shows you the gifts that I made for my co-workers and for the kid's pre-school. Above is the finished product for Tyler and Lily's pre-school teachers. The popcorn box was cut using my Cricut Expression and the Once a Princess cartridge. The tag was cut using the Merry Tags cartridge. The red cardstock piece was cut with my Cricut as well and for the life of me I can't remember what cartridge. The snowflakes are retired SU from my stash and the paper is from the now defunct Scenic Route. The ribbon is SU. Inside is homemade peppermint bark popcorn. So yummy and easy to make. I used my air popper to pop the corn. Try not to use microwave popcorn, it has carcinogens in it. After reading an article about it and having my sister, who is a dietician confirm it, I no longer have microwave popcorn in my house. But my airpopper makes popcorn in the same amount of time, so no loss.

They really came out nice! It felt good to make my own gifts and use my crafting supplies too!

Fun blog candy

Day 17 of the 25 Days of Christmas brings me to that leftover card. You know you got all of these random pieces of cardstock and dp and embellisments and you create a card with it. Somewhat to see what you can make but mostly so that it's less to put away and because all the stuff is already out. So that's what you see here. I used the MFT snowflake die with some glitter brads. Paper that I used on my Christmas cards cut out with the topnote die and a merry and bright sentiment. This card is going to a co-worker who happens to be male so I think that it's simplicity is just right!

Cherry cobbler

Today's card uses up more of that SU Deck the Halls paper - truthfully it was out and the less I use, the less I have to put away. I used this beautiful cherry cobbler paper which is also a favorite of my friend Melissa. I used the swiss dots embossing folder on it. I also used Bright Christmas for the sentiment, a glitter brad and red pearls from my stash. The ribbon is old olive from SU even though it looks quite a bit like celery. I also used the decorative punch and the large scallop punch. I so love dies and punches. They just make crafting fun and easy. Only 1 more day of work and then it's home for two weeks! Just the thought of not getting up at 5 in the morning makes me giddy. Thanks for coming by to Day 16 of the 25 Days of Christmas.

How many days til Christmas?

Today's card uses some more of that beautiful SU deck the halls dp as well as the new tags set Tags Til Christmas and the sentiment stamp set Bright Christmas. I also used my cuttlebug flowers to cut some flowers with the paper and use a glimmer brad in the middle. Simple, I think that I am just about done with cards and such. I swear I always plan ahead each year but I'm always working up to the last minute each year too! Go figure. Have any of you done a Daily album this year?
