Foof-a-lah

This is another card that I had made for the Verve stamps anniversary sketch challenge. All the supplies except for the brads is from Foofalah. I used my nestabilities for the circle and scallop circles. The main image is actually a rubon. A very different look for me but I really like how it came out. I think that it helps that the paper is super pretty!

A tall card & a little late candy

Here's the candy for this week. I didn't get a chance to post it until now. It's this very fun "notes" stamp set, it's acrylic so you'll need a block. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post by next Tuesday and I will post the winner on Wednesday! I'm offically back to work full time next week and they haven't hooked up our data ports yet so no Internet! So I might be late posting but don't worry I'll get to it!!! Enjoy your Labor Day weekend!

Hi everyone. Here is another card using a Verve Visual anniversary sketch. The size of the card is roughly 6x3 and fits in SU's small open end envelopes. I used the stamp set Thankful Blossoms by VV and the cardstock is CTMH Goldrush and Barn Red. The ribbon is from a May Arts share I did awhile ago. This is more of that Paper Loft dp I had. The scallops were made with my slit punch. A fun and easy card!

Old Guys Rule & the Winner

Have you guys heard of the company "Old Guys Rule"? I wasn't sure if it was a West coast thing or not. Anyway, my dad's friend actually started up this company. He used to be a rep for a surf clothing company and then left and started this company. I actually used to live in his father's tri-plex in Dana Point (tiny beach city right before San Diego) right out of grad school. It's pretty big here in SoCal and Downtown Disney even sells it. My mom asked me to make a card for my Grandma's husband using the "Old Guys Rule" theme. So I went to my local SS looking for some paper and when I walked in they had a whole section of "Old Guys Rule" paper, chipboard, stickers and brads. All by Creative Imaginations which is based in Huntington Beach which is very close to where I live. I bought everything they had because it was like kismet as far as I was concerned. Wow, my dad's friend must be rolling in the dough.

This card is super simple and follows the same type of idea as my Thomas card. I just adhered the background paper to dark blue cardstock and used a chipboard piece. The metal charm is actually a brad.

Well, my little one is surviving her first couple of days in daycare. All of the caregivers love her there. They say she's a really good baby and really sweet, which she is. She did seem to really want her pacifier, which is wierd because she just spits it out at home. It was probably because she missed her mama! Tyler had been going part time all along so he's fine with going back to full time.

Now onto the winner which is NormaJ! I have your addy already so I'm going to go to the post office today because I still have last week's winner to mail! Don't forget to check back on Friday where I will have another heart candy giveaway!

Blurry? Maybe I need a new camera!

I have no idea why this picture is so blurry! Sorry! But I just love how this card came out. It uses the Verve Visual set Thankful Blossoms and the little flower/bug is from Paper Trey Ink. The paper is from Paper Loft. It was part of the Verve Visual sketch challenge. It's very self-explanatory, except for the flowers which I stamped on a coordinating paper, cut out and used foam tape for dimension. Hopefully, I will take a better picture next time!

I am actually in the market for a new camera. I am looking for a basic SLR camera and have been saving up my credit card points to buy one. I know that everyone loves the Canon Rebel but I would love to find something comparable for less. Any suggestions? Does anyone have the Sony SLR camera? I have a cybershot right now and it would be great to be able to use the same memory sticks!

Tilda card & a couple zoo pics

Here are a couple of pics from my vacation. My son really liked touching the animals at the children's zoo. I hadn't been to the zoo since I was 8 years old and actually had a good time myself. We had yummy carnitas the first night we were there. The second day, our food wasn't as good but they had a couple of mariachis singing - my son thought that was so cool!

I finally got around to ordering some tildas. I ordered them from here. From what I hear, the club is a great value. I ordered the fall club so I'll let you know how many tildas I get!. I colored her in using my copic markers and almost the last of this dp. I have a few small strips left, otherwise I used all of it, yeah, less scraps! The card is very simple, I basically was just trying out coloring my Tilda!

Cupcake Fun

I couldn't resist showing these photos of Lily I took a couple of weeks ago, lifting her head. She did such a good job of keeping it up!
This was another card using a Verve Visual anniversary sketch. The dp is from American Crafts. I used my Martha Stewart punch and nestabilities. The cupcakes are from my Inkadinkadoo stamp set. The ribbon is May Arts. I just love how it came out. Sometimes I really never know how a card is going to turn out when I follow a sketch.

More Verve & Mini Sheetload of Cards Sketch

Here is another card that I made using the mini sheetload of cards August issue. I really like this one a lot! I used scraps from the Tie the Knot SU Simply Scrappin' kit. I just love how it came out!

A very simple card, also for a verve sketch. It uses the stamp set Thankful Blossoms. The paper is from 7 Gypsies and is quite busy so I kept the stamping to a minimum. You can't really tell but it's layered on orange cardstock.

Verve Visuals is celebrating their 1 year anniversary at the Splitcoaststampers forum. This card was made for a sketch challenge. It uses some more of that yummy paper from an earlier post. the stamp set is Fancy Florals. My favorite part of this stamp set is the sentiments. I just love the block print with the cursive.

Cutting Instructions for Gift Card

Here is some cutting and scoring information for the purse giftcard. Credit for this goes to my SU demonstrator Terri.

Cut your base cardstock, in this case vanilla, 4x12 and score at 3 3/8, 4 5/8, 5 7/8 and 9 3/8

Also, cut out of vanilla:

1 1/2 x 3 1/2 , 2 7/8 x 3 1/2 and 2 x 4 1/2 - scored at 1/4 on each end.

Choose a coordinating cardstock to your dp and cut 2 pieces: 3 1/8 x 3 3/4 and 1 5/8 x 4.
Cut 2 pieces of DP, 2 1/4 x 3 3/4 scored at 1 1/8, and 1 1/4 x 3 3/4

Cut a different piece of DP, 1 3/4 x 3 3/4
The scored DP is adhered to the mountain fold. The small scored vanilla piece is adhered right above the mountain fold. Place red line tape on the scored parts and the bottom of the vanilla piece so that it creates a pocket. The single DP piece is adhered on top of the vanilla piece and layered with a smaller vanilla piece.

The larger coordinating cardstock, in this case, red is adhered to the bottom of the vanilla base and a vanilla piece is adhered on top.

When folded, the front of the purse has the other piece of cardstock and dp layered on top. The purse is then decorated as shown below.

The sentiment stamps are from Paper Trey Ink and the stocking is from Gina K and is paperpieced.

To finish, the front is kept closed with velcro and the back of the purse is hole punched with the 1/8 hold punch and a 10 inch piece of ribbon is run through and tied off from the inside.

Orangsicle card

Here is another card that I made at my SU stamp club. It's a popcicle card, using my Tart and Tangy set and that wonderful SU striped ribbon. I ended up buying it in all colors! The catalog doesn't do it justice, when I saw it in person, I had to have it! Come to think of it, a popsicle sounds pretty yummy about now!

By the time you read this, I should be on my way to San Diego. It only takes a little less than 2 hours to get there. I hope for a relaxing time but with 2 kids under 2 and 1 of them nursing, I think it won't be so relaxing for me!

Anniversary Card

I am sorry if this picture didn't show up well but this is an anniversary card that I created for my sister. She asked me to make a card for her in-laws anniversary. I cuttlebugged the main white cardstock with my swiss dots folder and mounted it on black cardstock which I made little dots around the edge with my ranger white opaque pen. The main image is a cake stamp from a really old wood wedding set from CTMH, stamped in PTI's Aqua Mist. The black frame is from the borders and corners set also PTI. I mounted this image onto a black scalloped piece and used the white dots around the scallops. The ribbon is also PTI, Aqua Mist.

The inside image is from the Mixed Messages set, Paper Trey Ink. I think it's a very simple and elegant card, perfect for an anniversary.
