Blog Candy Whimsy

Last week's winner is Gayle! Please email me with your snail mail. Thanks so much everyone for playing.
This week's giveaway is this fun star stamp set. Just leave a comment on this post to enter the drawing. I will select a winner next Friday.
Today's card uses Birthday Whimsy, balloons and retired SU dp. I think it came out very cute! It's been a long week at work and I can't wait until the weekend. We are planning to go to the Festival of Books at UCLA on Saturday, if it doesn't rain. We've been having crazy weather here in So. Cal.
Any ideas on how to discipline a very naughty and unruly 3 1/2 year old, I would love to hear it. We are experiencing defiance and some name calling, especially at school. Two days in a row, I had to talk to his teacher, not fun I tell you!

Cuteness! =) Shepherding a Child's Heart by Ted Tripp is an awesome resource. There is a book and a DVD series and I think maybe audio too. I read the book first, then bought the DVD set.

Cindy, I haven't read this book, but he has other really great and helpful books on raising kids. This one has really good reviews. One thing I do know is that you have to be consistent - again & again & again, even when it is a real pain! Good luck!

I really, really like today's card. The colors are so great!
I alway's thought they shouldn't call them the "terrible two's", but rename them the "terrible three's". I find that taking away a priviledge (snacks work wonders with my kids) improves behavior.

LUV LUV LUV this cutie of a card! Thanks for sharing it with us. As far as helping with your child just be the loving parent you are and the rest will come. Teach him right from wrong and don't feed into any bad behavior. First purchase a regular kitchen timer digital or wind up. When the behavior begins tell him mommy is going to count to 5 and if you have not stopped mommy is going to place you on the couch for 3 minutes, Then if he keeps the behavior up after you have counted to 5 you need to follow through and place him on the couch and set the timer. If it is digital let him see the movement so eventually he will know when he can get up by himself when the timer goes off. He may try to get up or kick scream or yell but you need to ignore it as he will do this to get your attention. Just say you need to calm down. When the 3 minutes is up he may get up then. If he returns to that behavior again repeat above as many times as it takes to get him to see no matter what mommy is right and I can't do this. (If you give in and quit due to more behaviors you have lost the battle as he will know if I do this long enough on the couch she will let me up.) Above all remain calm and do not let him know that his antics bug you or he will feed into it and do it every time just to see your reaction. Just talk in a low tone and when it is time for him to get off the couch tell him mommy loves you and you need to listen to what mommy says so that you don't have to sit here again. Right before the timer goes off offer another alternative such as to ride a toy or color in a book. If he has something else to do chances are he will not go back to whatever the problem was. Kiss him and go about your day.
Hugs and Smiles
