A Summer Retirement

Today is my last day using this pink flamingo paper. This is a great way to use up scraps for paper we hoard every spare inch of. Cut it up as squares and use it in your layouts! I used my square punches but you can cut up your paper with your paper cutter in whatever size suites your design. I layered my dp on tempting turquoise cardstock. On top of that I layered a scalloped pink piece with my sentiment from the past year's sale-a-bration. I earned this stamp set free and it was great to use it. I know it's retired but it works great for this card. I cut a flower from one of the dp papers and used that as an image for my card.

I hope that you enjoy it!

The best is yet to be...

Don't forget today is the last day to leave a comment to win the Basic Grey blog candy! Here is another card using the Pink Flamingo paper. Such an easy card to showcase your favorite designer paper. The main cardstock color is tempting turquoise. The sentiment came from SU's hostess level 1 stamp set from last year, one of my favorites. I have one more card to show you with this paper and then I'm moving on. Thanks for sticking with me and this paper.

I had a great weekend. We took the family to the Santa Monica Pier for the day. The bigger kids went on the rollercoaster and Tyler went on a couple of kiddie rides. The only downside was the miserable traffic home! I guess a small price to pay. I'll be back tomorrow with the winner of the blog candy.

Show off that Designer Paper

Here is another card that showcases designer paper. It uses patterns from SU's Pink Flamingo. The only stamping is a sentiment from Oval All and I made my own embellishment with a button, twine and a tiny piece of ribbon which was a random piece that I cut off from my first card. A great card to show off pretty dp, simple fast and easy!

More pink flamingo

Here is another card using scraps - long scraps, when using 12x12 paper, I am always left with long scraps. I used my retired SU scallops stamp set (the Ronald McDonald set) in pretty tempting turquoise. Even though this stamp set is retired, I haven't used it much and so it's new to me! I made my own embellishement in the corner using the 5 petal flower punch and a clear button. This is a super bright card but I think it works! Tomorrow is another blog candy giveaway so don't miss it! This weekend I will be showing another card using this pink flamingo DP from SU.

Using scraps and Pink Flamingo

Today is the last day for my current blog candy here.

With today's economic times, I thought that I would discuss stamping on a budget. Of course, the number 1 thing is to use what you have but that's so difficult. Our mojo needs new papers and/or stamps for that inspiration so combining the new with what you have is a start. When buying new, consider a paper share or splitting a DCWV stack with a crafting friend.

When purchasing paper, especially paper shares and those huge DCWV stacks, we always have those papers we don't like, don't know how to use, etc and what to do with scraps?

For the next couple of days, I will be showing some cards made with some paper I just didn't love (to put it nicely), this is SU's Pink Flamingo. These cards also make use of scraps. In this sketch, I used strips of paper in different coordinating patterns. I tied off a white ribbon and used piercing to kind of give detail and break up the crazy patterns. I used the stamp set Party Hearty which I bought during SU's birthday stamp discount. I think this is the first time I used this stamp set! I used coordinating ink and cardstock colors in riding hood red (I had a scrap of this handy) and tempting turquoise. I used my punches and a rhinestone from some other promotion that I had handy. So I not only used scraps, paper from a pack I'm not crazy about and used a stamp set that was seeing ink for the first time!

Stay tuned for my next card...

Winner & a Beachy Bella

I made this cute card for the weekly bloggabella challenge but I forgot to send it in time. Oh well. I like the card. The paper is from my stash, I think it's Bo-Bunny. It's layered on Kraft cardstock and the bubbled kraft piece was embossed using my cuttlebug. Which btw I was watching HSN last week and they had all of the new not yet released folders for the cuttlebug at an amazing price. Yes, I broke down and bought them! The stamp is from Stamping Bella and is called Beachabella. The sentiment is from the PTI customer stamp set. I paperpieced the bikini, blanket and bag. I made my own embellishment with a scallop circle, button, twine and ribbon. I got that idea from Mish. The rest of her is colored with copics!

Patty W you are the winner! I will be back with more candy on Friday.

Also, I got my camera and I just love it. I have no idea how it works just yet, but the fast shutter speed put me in raptures of joy! No more missing the cuteness of my kids. I can capture the moment!

Friday Giveaway is here.

Hi Everyone! I have been so busy. I think I always say that...but my husband was off today and I've been trying to help declutter my stepson's room because my husband is going to be building his closet. We have lived here three years in a state of construction and the poor kid has not had a place to hang his clothes and there were boxes in his closet from when we moved in! Then my stepdaughter came back from Europe today so I'm uploading her pictures to pick them up tomorrow to start working on her scrapbook and I just got my SU order and I'm busy cutting paper!

I received a lovely RAK and a couple of wonderful birthday cards from my blogging friends and I will be sharing those with you next week. In the meantime, here is another card using my favorite stamp set right now, Great Friend.
The butterfly is stamped in kiwi kiss and the sentiment is stamped over in rose red. I know, terrible picture but I just got an email from Amazon that my new SLR Canon Rebel is on its way! The paper is SU retired Rasberry Tart and I hardly even got to use it.I have not forgotten my Friday Giveaway! I'm giving away 2 DCWV mat stacks, one is spring matstack and the other is spring cardstock matstack. To win just leave a comment on this post, subscribers may comment twice. Let me know what you're doing for summer vacation (or staycation!) I will post the winner next Wednesday. I still have not heard from the cupcake winner so please email me by Sunday or I will just put the cupcakes up for the next giveaway. Talk to you soon.

Anyway, this card uses one of my favorite sets Great Friend and the SU dp Bella Birds with vanilla and chocolate cardstock. I've been scrapbooking, making books and stamping so I just need some time to upload my stuff to share! I also bought a camera. Woo Hoo! My mom gave me a Gift certificate to Amazon for my birthday and along with the ones that I earned with my Amazon Visa I bought a Canon Rebel! It's due to come this week along with my huge SU order. For those who ordered my shares, they will be cut this week and sent hopefully by Friday. I am still taking orders for them! Talk to you all soon.
